Parvathy, a girl who studies in fourth-grade at Kerala school has recently been in the limelight as she won a Quran recitation competition. The Quran Recitation Competition was conducted at the Thodannur sub-district arts festival in Kozhikode. She won the competition as she was most fluent in Arabic.
Parvathy belongs to a Hindu family. Soon after she won the competition, she became the poster girl of religious harmony when she began her recitation of The Quran – the holy book of Islam – with the Arabic phrase “Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem”, which translates to “In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful”
How and when did she learn Arabic?
Official confirmation is awaited but the reports suggest that the Quran Recitation Competition winner started learning Arabic when she was in first grade. She has a twin sister, Parvana, who also holds good knowledge and command over the language. It has been reported that their parents are to be credited for this win as they were the ones who encouraged their daughters to learn a new language.
Reports say that the father, Nalish Bobby, is an IT professional and her mother Dina Prabha is a government school teacher.
A video of around two and half minute duration has surfaced on youtube and other platforms. She received all the praise.
