Srinagar: An encounter has broken out between militants and security forces in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district, officials confirmed on Saturday evening.
According to reports from the police, militants opened fire on a search party during a cordon-and-search operation in the area.
“As the forces advanced towards the suspected hideout, they came under intense fire from the militants.
Sources suggest that two to three militants are believed to be cornered in the area.
To prevent their escape, additional reinforcements have been deployed, and efforts to tighten the cordon are underway.
“The cordon is being reinforced, and the area remains under a strict security cover to neutralize the militants,” the officer added.
