Srinagar: Top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Usman Bhai was killed in a fierce encounter in Srinagar’s Khanyar area on Saturday, police confirmed.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, told Kashmir Newsville that the LeT commander had been involved in multiple militancy-related incidents, including the targeted killings of non-locals, security personnel, and Inspector Manzoor.
The encounter started after a joint security team approached a suspected hideout. Upon approaching, militants opened fire, initiating a gunfight that lasted throughout the day.
As of the latest reports, the operation in the Khanyar area remains ongoing.
