Srinagar: Security has been ramped up across Srinagar city following a grenade attack by militants in the crowded Sunday market area yesterday, which left several civilians injured.
The attack has led to a state of heightened vigilance throughout the city, as the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly also convenes its session today.
In response, police and paramilitary forces have established additional checkpoints throughout Srinagar, focusing on high-traffic zones, government buildings, and other sensitive areas.
Authorities have also intensified patrols, closely monitoring public movement to ensure safety and prevent any further incidents. Entry and exit points to the city are under strict surveillance, with comprehensive checks on vehicles and individuals alike.
Witnesses reported that the blast at the Sunday market caused panic, with shoppers and vendors scrambling to escape the scene.
The grenade attack has put additional pressure on security forces, especially with the assembly session underway, (KNS).
