Srinagar: The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura finds itself embroiled in controversy yet again, this time over allegations of negligence in its Nephrology Ward.
A viral video, reportedly recorded by the daughter of a patient in Ward 4A, claims that no doctors or paramedical staff attended to approximately 40 patients for over an hour. The video, which has sparked widespread outrage, shows vacant doctors’ rooms and an unattended ward, raising serious questions about patient care at the premier healthcare institute.
The woman, whose father is reportedly in critical condition, alleges that she searched the premises for medical staff but found no one available. “Patients are being left at the mercy of God,” she is heard lamenting in the footage.
The incident has also reignited criticism of SKIMS authorities, particularly following their recent ban on video recordings within the hospital. Social media users have condemned the restriction, accusing the administration of attempting to shield operational deficiencies from public scrutiny.
Public outrage has mounted, with many demanding accountability and immediate corrective action to address the alleged negligence. Despite repeated attempts, SKIMS authorities remained unavailable for comment.(With KNT Inputs)
