Rajouri: Authorities in Rajouri have sealed a spring in Badhal village after water samples tested positive for pesticides, raising serious public health concerns.
An official order issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADM) Kotranka, a copy of which lies with Kashmir Newsville, states that the spring, locally known as “Bawli,” has been sealed by the PHE (Jal Shakti) Division Rajouri and blocked under the supervision of the concerned magistrate.
The order further notes apprehensions that the tribal population in the area might stealthily collect water from the contaminated spring. To prevent this, Tehsildar Khawas has been directed to ensure no one uses the water. Additionally, the SHO of Police Station Kandi has been instructed to deploy 2-3 security personnel to guard the site round the clock.
“This matter is of utmost urgency in the interest of public health and safety,” the order reads.
