Jammu: A man was shot dead by rival gang members in Jewal Chowk area of Jammu on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
Quoting an official, news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reported that the man, travelling in an SUV, was attacked by unidentified persons, who were already present in the Jewal Chowk.
He said that four bullets were fired at him and he sustained grievous injuries. “The injured was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu where he was declared dead on arrival, while unknown assailants have managed to flee from the spot.”
The deceased was identified as Sumit Jandial (37), of Vijaypur, Samba.
Meanwhile the police has ruled out any terror angle after a man was shot dead in the Jewal Chowk area of Jammu and that the incident was the result of gang rivalry.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Anand Jain, told reporters that the incident was due to gang rivalry.
He said Gataru gang of Vijaypur attacked the member of its rival group and there was no terrorist angle in the incident.
