Srinagar: After scalping 32 wickets in 7 matches of Ranji Trophy, J-K’s Abid Mushtaq is set to bowl to touring Australian team in nets ahead of their test series against India, reported Kashmir Sports Watch (KSW).
Australian team left from Sydney to India on 31 January and will hold a 4-day training camp in Bengaluru before heading to Nagpur for the first Test of Border Gavaskar Trophy. Abid, the left-arm spinner, has been called to bowl in the nets to help the Australian team prepare for the series.
Australia will be eyeing to get a taste of Indian pitches and spinners before entering the four-match series.
“It is an opportunity for Abid to learn from the best. He will get the exposure of bowling to world class batters like Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, etc,” an internal source told KSW.
“It is a great news for J&K cricket. Abid is a great talent and has the potential to make it big,” it added.
There have been rumours making rounds that Abid has been called as a net-bowler for India team, which, however, is not true.
“These Facebook pages spreading rumours and deceiving people is nothing new,” the source said while lashing out at the rumour mongers.
The Australian team’s preparatory camp will begin in Bengaluru on 2 February and Abid will also join them on the same day.
