Srinagar: Authorities today said that the Chest Diseases (CD) Hospital will be shifted to GB Panth Sonwar in next two weeks.
Dr Saleem Tak, Medical Superintendent, CD Hospital said that in around next two weeks, CD hospital will be shifted to Sonwar, which was earlier a children hospital.
Oxygen supply wasn’t available to every bed at Sonwar, however, for chest disease patients there is need for oxygen for every bed on which work is going on, he said.
Work is expected to get complete in the next two weeks and soon after that hospital will start functioning there, Dr Tak said.
Notably last year, H&ME Department ordered the shifting of the Children’s Hospital from Sonwar to Bemina, it also directed the Principal, GMC Srinagar to chalk out an action plan for the shifting of the CD Hospital to GB Panth.
The officials said that the CD Hospital building at Dalgate will be used as an infectious disease hospital while the Tuberculosis division of the pulmonary and respiratory medicine department will also remain functional there.
In October last year, Medical Superintendent CD hospital had written to executive engineer MH&CH Srinagar to inspect support systems and carry out rectifications whatever needed on emergency basis at GB Panth hospital before shifting CD hospital there.
The support systems to be inspected include oxygen plant and piping system to each and every bed of GB Panth hospital to be ensured, generators for backup of electricity need to be serviced and kept ready, Central heating system may be inspected, Fire fighting system also needs to be kept ready, Laundry section also needs to be inspected and whatever rectification is needed may be done and Water pumping facility may be checked and kept ready, MS had written
The government is also planning for setting up a drug de-addiction center at the CD’s Dalgate building which will be handled by the concerned department of the GMC, Srinagar, they said.
They said that the GB Pant Hospital has good facilities in terms of space, bed capacity, rooms for doctors, and proper machinery and there are around 250 beds in GB Pant Hospital while CD Hospital has only a 150-bedded capacity.
Notably, on September 16 last year, the pediatric services of GB Pant Hospital, Srinagar were shifted to the newly-constructed 500-bedded Children Hospital at Bemina—(KNO)
