DSEK Warned Schools Against Indulging Into ‘Uniform Trade’

Srinagar: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) warned of stern action against private schools forcing parents to buy books and uniforms for their kids from ‘designated’ shops.

Talking to the reporters on the sidelines of a function at Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kothibagh here, Director School Education Dr Tassaduq Hussain said the department will act tough against private schools forcing parents to follow their dictates.

The Director Education said stern action will be initiated against private schools found involved in floating norms prescribed by the government.

“We have directed all ZEOs and CEOs to act tough against private schools that force parents to follow their dictates, like purchasing books and uniforms from the designated shop. We are busy with exams, which are nearing end while new classes are set to begin. However, we are constantly looking into the issue, we will ensure that violators are dealt with sternly,” he added.

He asked the parents to directly call his office number, north or south zone Directors or local ZEOs and CEOs in case they are forced to purchase uniforms or books for their kids from designated shops.

Hussain said the department under the supervision of Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary to Government School Department, makes all out efforts to impart quality and inclusive education to the children under National Education Policy (NEP).

He also said that 1000 kindergartens will be started, while pre-primary classes up to middle school level will also be started in the valley within the next one or two years.

“We really want to impart quality and inclusive education to our children under NEP,” he added.
