New Delhi: The Delhi Police took swift action on Friday, suspending a sub-inspector following allegations of misconduct during a public prayer gathering in the capital’s Inderlok area, News Agency PTI reported.

The incident, which occurred during the Friday congregational prayers around 2 pm near Inderlok Metro Station, sparked outrage among locals.

According to police reports, the sub-inspector allegedly kicked individuals participating in the prayer session on a road, prompting immediate condemnation from onlookers.

In response, locals staged a road blockade, demanding accountability and action against the officer involved. Consequently, security measures were heightened in the area to prevent any escalation of tensions and ensure public safety.

The incident gained widespread attention after a video capturing the purported act went viral on social media platforms. “In the incident which happened today, the police post in-charge who was seen in the video has been suspended with immediate effect.

Necessary disciplinary action is also being taken,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) M K Meena said, emphasizing that disciplinary measures were underway.

Acknowledging the seriousness of the matter, police authorities initiated a probe promptly upon becoming aware of the video.

Additionally, officials met with protestors to address concerns and reassure the community of their commitment to justice. (PTI)
