Jammu: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain has said that six to seven militant groups are active in Jammu region.
Talking to media persons at Gundoh after the military operation was over, ADGP Jain said that on June 12, armed forces had established contact with militants in which a police constable was injured.
“Since then forces had launched search operation and on Wednesday immediately after receiving the information about presence of militants in the area, the operation was launched and armed forces successfully eliminated three militants,” he said.
The ADGP has sought public cooperation, asking them to share the information about the people who have been providing shelter and food to these militants so that action is taken against them as well.
Responding to a question as how many militant groups are present in division, the ADGP said, “There were three to four groups of militants earlier but after recent infiltration, the number has gone up to around six to seven groups.”
Speaking on the occasion, an Army officer said that the operation was well coordinated and no chance was given to terrorists to break the cordon.
“We had coordinated with Doda police and it was a very well coordinated operation,” the Brigadier Sunil Mishra Commander 9 Sector RR said.
