Perth: Pakistan’s pace attack proved to be too hot to handle for Australia again as the visitors overturned a 1-0 deficit to clinch the ODI series 2-1.

Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique led Pakistan to a resounding eight-wicket victory over Australia, securing their first one-day series win in Australia in 22 years. The match, held at Perth Stadium, saw Pakistan bowl out the world champions for a mere 140 runs before easily reaching their target in the 27th over.

The stellar performance was a result of exceptional bowling from Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf. This victory marks Pakistan’s first ODI series win in Australia since 2002, showcasing their dominance on the field.

This win was a historic achievement for Pakistan, as it marked their first ODI victory at Adelaide Oval in 28 years. The last time they triumphed here was in 1996 under Wasim Akram’s leadership, with Saqlain Mushtaq playing a key role by taking 5 wickets.

Pakistan now gear up to face Australia in a three-match T20I series, kicking off on November 14 at The Gabba.

Scores in brief:

Pakistan beat Australia by eight wickets

Australia 140 all out, 31.5 overs (Sean Abbott 30, Matthew Short 22; Shaheen Shah Afridi 3-32, Naseem Shah 3-54, Haris Rauf 2-24)

Pakistan 143-2, 26.5 overs (Saim Ayub 42, Abdullah Shafique 37, Mohammad Rizwan 30 not out, Babar Azam 28 not out; Lance Morris 2-24)
