Srinagar: The Srinagar police clarified on Wednesday that reports regarding an alleged attack on the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Kashmir University have not been substantiated, although investigations are still underway.
In an official post on ‘X’, Srinagar police stated that an alleged incident involving gunfire targeting the VC near Zakura on Tuesday evening could not be corroborated after thorough checks and analysis.
“Police teams dispatched to the scene found no evidence of bullet marks,” the statement read. “The area was meticulously searched, but nothing was found to support the claim.”
According to police, individuals in the vicinity, as well as personnel stationed at a nearby checkpoint, did not report hearing gunfire. The only shots identified were those fired by security personnel assigned to the VC as precautionary measures, triggered by perceived suspicious activity.
