Ahmedabad: Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Virat Kohli have finally got their hands on the IPL trophy as they beat Punjab Kings by 6 runs in the IPL 2025 final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
An 18-year title drought comes to an end after what was a brilliant comeback by RCB, courtesy of their bowling attack.
RCB successfully defended a competitive total of 190, credited to bowling display spearheaded by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya. Chasing 191 for victory, PBKS fell short, finishing at 184 for 7 in their 20 overs.
The win marked an emotional moment for RCB fans and especially for Virat Kohli, who had been part of the franchise since its inception in 2008. This was RCB’s fourth appearance in an IPL final and their first since 2016. In contrast, it was PBKS’s second appearance, having last reached the final in 2014.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have received Rs 20 crore for winning the 18th edition of the league while runners-up Punjab Kings got richer by Rs 12.5 crore.
