Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday released the “much-awaited” list of nine food business operators whose FSSAI licenses have been suspended in Srinagar and Anantnag as part of its ongoing crackdown on rotten meat, synthetic cheese, and expired sweets.
According to the FDA, the suspended licenses include several prominent meat and food outlets operating in Lasjan, Zakura, Qamarwari, and in Anantnag’s KP Road, Achabal, and Kadipora areas.
The move comes days after large-scale seizures in which FDA teams confiscated over 12,000 kg of meat, 21 quintals of synthetic cheese, and 440 quintals of expired rasgulla that were allegedly being pushed into markets ahead of the festival season.
The establishments facing suspension are:
M/S Al-Taqwa Foods (Lasjan, Srinagar, Altaf Ahmad Chadinoo)
M/S Aarif Enterprises (Bulbul Bagh, Tengpora, Srinagar)
M/S Sunshine Foods (Industrial Estate, Zakura, Srinagar)
M/S Anmol Foods (Parimpora Ghat, Qamarwari, Srinagar)
M/S Jubilant Food Works Ltd. (Domino’s Pizza, KP Road, Anantnag)
M/S Shaun Shahi Biryani (KP Road, Anantnag)
M/S Shan Fish Fry (Achabal Adda, Anantnag)
M/S Bismillah Sweets (Industrial Estate, Anantnag)
M/S Khanday Poultry (Kadipora, Anantnag)
The FDA reiterated that violators will face prosecution under the Food Safety Act, which prescribes penalties of up to ₹10 lakh, cancellation of licenses, and imprisonment of up to six years.
Officials further revealed that 12 food samples have been tested so far, with four found unsafe due to the presence of harmful synthetic colors. More establishments are likely to face action in the coming days, the department said.
