1202 Housing Units Completed, Over 1600 Houses Under Construction In Srinagar: DC

SRINAGAR: In order to review the implementation and progress under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-Urban in the District, a meeting of the Officers of line Departments was held under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad here on Tuesday at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Syed Bashir Ahmad, Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, Tehsildar Recovery, Imtiyaz Amin Naik, besides Officers of Housing Board and other concerned Departments were present in the meeting.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed appraisal about the implementation of PMAY-Urban scheme in different parts of the District. With regard to the target achieved under Beneficiary Led Individual House Construction (BLC) and Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme under PMAY-U, the DC was apprised that as on January 10, 2022, as many as 1203 houses have been completed so far in the District. It was also given out that more than 1600 houses are under different phases of construction. DGM Housing Board apprised the chair about release of instalments to the verified beneficiaries.

The DC was also apprised that an amount of Rs 25 crore has been disbursed till date in the accounts of genuine beneficiaries after following due procedure and multilevel verification.

On the occasion, the DC directed the concerned officers to ensure that the scheme guidelines are followed in letter and spirit so that all genuine eligible beneficiaries are covered under the PMAY-U scheme in the district.

The DC enjoined upon the concerned officers to compile the data about the beneficiaries by checking all parameters as per the scheme guidelines including title verification as per Revenue records and speed up the process for release of payment under the scheme to genuine beneficiaries of the district. He emphasised upon the banks to provide additional loan assistance if required by the eligible beneficiaries.

It is pertinent to mention that Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) jas been launched by the government with the aim to provide ease of living to weaker sections in urban areas. The PMAY-U has been envisaged to address urban housing shortage among the EWS/LIG and MIG categories including the slum dwellers by ensuring a pucca house to all eligible urban households
