Handwara: A government employee was killed in a hit and run case in Udipora village of Langate in Handwara of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district this evening, official sources said.
They said a 42-year-old Jal Shakti Department (previously PHE) employee identified as Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, son of Abdul Gaffar Shiekh resident of Bacherwara Handwara was fatally hit by a vehicle at Udipora Langate.
The injured person, they said, was shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Before the people could reach the spot, the vehicle driver fled the spot, they further said.
SHO Kralgund said that a case has been registered in this regard. “We have constituted a team to nab the culprit as soon as possible”, he said. (GNS)
