GAZA: Tel Aviv resumed bombardment in Gaza on Friday as Israeli warplanes bombed different areas of the Gaza Strip. Since October 7, more than 15,000 people have lost lives in strikes by Israel in Palestine, according to country’s health sector.

More than 20 Palestinians have been killed since Israel resumed attacks on Gaza after expiration of truce, Al Jazeera reported quoting health officials.

Israeli army drops leaflets telling people in parts of already bombarded southern Gaza to evacuate, signalling an expanding offensive.

“Israel Defense Forces warplanes are now attacking targets of the terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip,” the Israeli army said in a statement on X.

The Israeli warplanes targeted several areas in the Gaza Strip, an Anadolu Agency reported quoitng organisation’s correspondent on the ground.

The humanitarian pause between Israel and Hamas, which went into effect on November 24, ended on Friday morning.

The seven-day pause, which began on November 24 and was extended twice, had allowed for the exchange of dozens of hostages held in Gaza for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and facilitated the entry of humanitarian aid into the shattered coastal strip.

In the hour before the truce was set to end at 7 am (0500 GMT), Israel claimed it intercepted a rocket fired from Gaza.

“What Israel did not achieve during the fifty days before the truce, it will not achieve by continuing its aggression after the truce,” Ezzat El Rashq, a member of the Hamas political bureau, said on the group’s website, as reported by Reuters.

Palestinian media and Gaza’s interior ministry reported Israeli air and artillery strikes across the enclave after the truce expired, including in Rafah, near the border with Egypt.
