Budgam: At least 12 tea stalls were damaged in a fire at Doodhpathri in Budgam district late last night, officials said.
An official said that the fire was caused by a gas leakage. He confirmed that while a dozen tea stalls were damaged, no injuries were reported.
Sources said that the probable cause of the fire was a gas cylinder explosion. However, an official mentioned that an investigation is underway.
“There is a considerable distance between some of the tea stalls, yet several were damaged in the incident, which is quite surprising,” the official said.
These tea stalls have been operating without the necessary permissions from the authorities. Recently, the Doodhpathri Development Authority (DDA) issued notices to the owners of these illegal tea stalls, asking them to vacate the space they occupy within 10 days or face action.
