Srinagar: A video showing a dog occupying a chair at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district has gone viral, evoking widespread condemnation and prompting the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) to order an inquiry.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Newsville, the Directorate’s spokesperson said that following the circulation of the video on March 14, 2025, an inquiry has been initiated to investigate the matter. The inquiry team will conduct a thorough review, analyzing electronic records, CCTV footage, duty rosters, and interviewing patients and staff to determine the facts. It will also identify any lapses and recommend necessary actions to prevent such incidents in the future.

Additionally, the spokesperson stated that the committee will assess the possibility of the video being deliberately staged or manipulated to malign the hospital’s reputation. Citing previous cases involving SDH Bijbehara and CHC Pattan, where fabricated videos were allegedly circulated to mislead the public, the statement warned that legal action would be taken against those attempting to defame government hospitals if similar motives are found in this case.

“The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and will not tolerate any negligence at any level,” the statement concluded.
