Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government said on Tuesday that 48 destinations across the Valley have been shut for tourists.
The action comes after the attack on tourists in the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam town in Kashmir. Twenty-five tourists, including a Nepali national and a local, were killed in the firing by terrorists.
The valley has 87 total destinations, out of which 48 have been closed now.
The destinations which have been closed are:
District Srinagar: Jamia Masjid, Badamwari, Rajori Kadal Hotel Kanaaz, Aali Kadal JJ Food Restaurant, IVORY Hotel, Padshapal resorts and restaurant, Cherry tree resort (Faqir Gujri), North cliff cafe and retreat by Stay Pattern, Forest hill cottage, Eco village resort (Dara), Astanmarg View Point, Astanmarg Paragliding, Mamneth and Mahadev Hills, Buddhist Monastery, Dachigam – Beyond Trout Farm / Fisheries Farm, Astanpora (especially Qayam Gah resort, Lachpatri.
District Baramulla: Wular/Watlab, Rampora and Rajpora, Chearhar, Mundij-Hamam-Markoot Waterfall, Khampoo, Bosnia, Vijitop, Babareshi, Shrunz Waterfall, Kamanpost, Namblan Waterfall, Eco Park Khadniyar, Gogaldara, Habba Khatoon Point, Ringawali, Baderkote.
District Budgam: Yousmarg, Tousimaidan, Doodpathri.
District Anantnag: Sun Temple, Verinag Garden, Sinthan Top, Margantop, Akad Park.
District Kulgam: Aharbal, Kousarnag.
District Kupwara: Bangus, Kariwan Diver Chandigam, Bangus Valley.
District Ganderbal: Hung Park and Naranag.
District Pulwama: Sangarwani.
A senior official in Tourism department said all major tourist destinations across Kashmir, including Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Dal Lake, and the Mughal Gardens, remain fully operational and continue to welcome visitors.
Tourists are moving freely, and all necessary security arrangements are in place to ensure their safety and comfort,” the official said.
He clarified that only some lesser-known offbeat destinations—accounting for merely 4-5% of the overall tourist footfall—have been closed temporarily as a precautionary measure.
