Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said that prompt action led to the arrest of all four accused in a sexual assault case in Srinagar.
A police spokesperson in a statement said, “Upon receiving information about an attempted sexual assault on a woman (name withheld) by a group of individuals near Water Works Road, Nishat, police acted promptly. The victim had sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to hospital, where she was declared brought dead.”
“Following the incident, FIR No. 35/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Nishat, and investigation was immediately initiated.
During the course of investigation, the following four accused persons were identified and arrested:
Suhail Bashir Bhat, S/O Bashir Ahmad, R/O Asham Sumbal
Adil Ali Bhat, S/O Ali Mohammad, R/O Zeethyar Nishat
Firdous Ahmad Rather, S/O Ghulam Ahmad, R/O Zeethyar Nishat
Suhail Afzal Bhat, S/O Mohammad Afzal, R/O Pahloo Brein
Police said all the accused were apprehended and that further investigation is ongoing.
