Srinagar: Amid scorching weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir, Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday announced a change in school timings starting from the upcoming Monday.
“We have received numerous calls from parents requesting a change in school timings. After due consideration, we have decided to shift to an early morning schedule from Monday,” Itoo said.
The minister also endorsed the suggestion that morning assemblies be held in shaded areas or inside school halls wherever available.
Regarding summer vacations, she added, “We will decide on the timing of the summer break when it is more appropriate.”
Meanwhile, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued an official order announcing revised school timings for all government and recognized private schools across the Kashmir Division, effective May 26, 2025.
According to the official order, a copy of which is available with Kashmir Newsville reads, schools within the Srinagar Municipal limits will operate from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, while those outside the municipal limits and in other areas of the Kashmir province will function from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
