Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir’s Education Minister, Sakina Itoo, has announced that all schools—government and private—across the Kashmir Valley will reopen as scheduled on Tuesday, July 8.
Minister Itoo confirmed that there will be no extension to the summer break. “The schools will reopen on Tuesday. All teaching and learning activities will resume as per the new time schedule,” she said.
To address concerns over rising summer temperatures, the education department has introduced revised school timings for both municipal and rural areas:
- Schools within municipal limits (Classes Primary to 12th): 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM
- Schools in rural/non-municipal areas: 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
The minister emphasized the need to balance learning with health precautions during the hot weather.
In a significant move toward modern education practices, the government has also unveiled a blended learning model. Students will now be required to attend two hours of online classes after returning home, following a one-hour break for rest and meals.
“Students will take a one-hour break after reaching home and then connect for online lessons to strengthen the day’s learning,” the minister said, highlighting the government’s focus on consolidating classroom teaching with digital reinforcement.
With the new academic routine, the Education Department aims to ensure continuity in learning while adapting to climatic conditions, reinforcing both discipline and innovation in the Valley’s education system.
