Srinagar: Kashmir Super League 2025 kicked off on Thursday at TRC Ground in Srinagar with the opening matchup of the competition pitting Athwas India XI against Greenend Heroes FC.
The game was inaugurated by Tanvir Sadiq, MLA Zadibal, and Irfan Shahmiri, Chairman of Downtown Heroes FC and CHINAR International, in a vibrant opening ceremony that set the tone for the tournament.
Both teams displayed remarkable skill and intensity throughout the match, which kicked off at 7:00 PM under the floodlights. Athwas India XI entered halftime 1-0 up, but Greenend Heroes FC mounted a strong comeback in the second half to clinch a 2-1 win.
Hyder Yousuf was the standout performer for Greenend Heroes FC, scoring a brilliant brace. Ateeb Dar was the scorer for Athwas India XI.
The post-match presentation ceremony honoured individual brilliance on the field. Hyder Yousuf received the Man of the Match & Game Changer of the Match awards. Greenend Heroes FC goalkeeper Umaid Hussain received the Golden Save Award.
The awards were presented in the presence of dignitaries, including Anisa Nabi, Chief Sports Officer, J&K Sports Council; Waseem Khan from Khyber Cements; and Irfan Gujju from IA Multiventure.
The Kashmir Super League continues to serve as a powerful platform for local talent and a celebration of the region’s love for football.
The Round 1 of Kashmir Super League 2025 will continue on Friday with Aqua Kashmir Avengers FC locking horns with United Elegant FC at TRC Ground. The game will kick off at 7:00 PM. On Saturday, New JK United FC will take on ARCO United FC at the same venue.
