New Delhi: Home Minister of India Amit Shah on Tuesday informed Parliament that all three militants involved in the April 22 attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam have been eliminated in a military operation in Srinagar.
Speaking during the Monsoon Session, Shah said the joint operation — named Operation Mahadev — was conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The slain militants were identified as Suliman, Afgan, and Jibran — all classified as A-category militants and foreign nationals from Pakistan. “We have their Pakistani voter card numbers. Pakistan-manufactured chocolates were also recovered from their possession,” Shah revealed.
He said Suliman, a senior commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, played a key role in both the April 22 Pahalgam attack and the earlier assault in Gagangeer. “Security agencies have concrete evidence confirming Suliman’s involvement in both cases,” he added.
The April attack in Pahalgam, a scenic tourist destination, had left 26 Tourists including a local resident dead and sparked heightened tensions along the India-Pakistan border, eventually leading to a brief military confrontation.
