Srinagar: The closure of the Jammu–Srinagar highway in the first week of September, coupled with traffic restrictions, has led to severe delays in LPG cylinder deliveries across the Valley.
Consumers said their online bookings are not being fulfilled on time.
“I booked my cylinder on September 11, and it still hasn’t been delivered,” said a resident of Barbar Shah. “With winter approaching, this is worrying since most households depend on LPG for cooking.”
Sources said Indian Oil Corporation runs a private contract plant in the Valley with a loading capacity of only eight trucks a day, against a requirement of 25. The remaining consignments take nearly three days for a round trip from Jammu. Agencies receiving 300 bookings daily can supply only 150 cylinders, leaving many consumers without deliveries.
Consumers have urged the authorities and oil companies to speed up supplies and maintain adequate stocks in the coming weeks.
