Srinagar: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has urged residents to cooperate fully with officials during the upcoming Census 2027 exercise to help ensure accurate and transparent data collection for future planning and development.
In a public appeal issued through the corporation’s official social media handle, Principal Census Officer Urban Srinagar and SMC Commissioner Faz Lul Haseeb said active public participation would be essential for the smooth and efficient conduct of the census process.
The appeal called on citizens across Srinagar city to support census officials so that reliable and updated demographic and household data could be gathered for administrative planning and developmental initiatives.
“Appeal to all citizens of Srinagar City to extend full cooperation in the forthcoming Census 2027 exercise to ensure accurate, transparent and efficient data collection for better planning and development,” the statement read.
The appeal comes as preparations for Census 2027 gradually begin across the country. The exercise is expected to be one of the largest nationwide administrative operations involving extensive collection of demographic and household data.
Officials said accurate census data plays a key role in urban planning, infrastructure development, implementation of welfare schemes, and allocation of public resources.
