Srinagar: A clinic in Dara Syedpora, Harwan, accused of offering unproven medical treatments, was sealed, and medicines were seized for investigation.

Speaking to news agency JKNS, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Srinagar, Dr. Tahir Sajad, said, “The clinic, Famous Cure Quackery, has been seized in Dara Syedpora, Harwan, Srinagar. We have also seized medicines, and samples have been taken for investigation to verify their authenticity and assess any violations of medical practices.

“Earlier, in an official communique, the Head of the Department of Paediatrics at GMC urged the Principal of GMC Srinagar to take strong measures against the practice of quackery.

“With profound reverence and humble submission, I request your esteemed self to protect public health and safety. We need to take strong measures against the practice of quackery,” reads the official communique.

“Over the past few years, several cases of acute liver failure have been reported in patients who were previously discharged from this hospital. After leaving the hospital, they sought miracle cures in Dara Harwan, where they received unproven medical treatments and complementary therapies. This led to them being admitted to the ICU with acute liver failure and, unfortunately, dying,” it continues.

“Kindly take all necessary measures against such unqualified individuals to safeguard future generations,” the communique urges.
