Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government announced on Tuesday that a staggering 4,28,204 Kanals and 13 Marlas of state and kahcharai land is currently under illegal occupation across the Union Territory.
In response to a query from MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah, the minister in charge stated that concrete measures have been taken to evict illegal occupants, with all entries made in their name being expunged.
“Special eviction drives are being carried out continuously to reclaim encroached land. A total of 3,555 cases have been approved for land use change in Jammu and Kashmir. These permissions have been granted for various purposes, including commercial, industrial, and residential developments,” he added.
Additionally, the minister revealed that 40,151 Kanals and 17.5 Marlas of land have been transferred to the Industries and Commerce Department across the region.
He further stated that, in Gulmarg alone, 94 Kanals have been transferred, with 50 Kanals in Hardubani village and 44 Kanals in Lalpora village.
