Srinagar: In view of the ongoing severe weather conditions and adverse forecasts, authorities on Saturday announced the suspension of classwork in all schools across the Kashmir Valley tomorrow.
The decision has been taken purely as a precautionary step to safeguard the well-being of students.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Education Minister Sakina Itoo said: “In light of the continuing severe weather conditions and forecasts, it has been decided that classwork in all schools of the valley shall remain suspended for one day tomorrow (21st April). This decision has been taken as a precautionary step to ensure the safety and well-being of all students”.
According to an official order issued by the Office of the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, the suspension applies only to student attendance. All teaching and non-teaching staff have been directed to report for duty as usual.
Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing persistent rainfall for the past few days, with reports of flash floods, landslides, and traffic disruptions surfacing from multiple districts.
