Srinagar: Drones are fast becoming the new “over ground workers” (OGWs) for militant outfits in Jammu and Kashmir, marking a worrying shift in tactics, PTI reported quoting officials on Wednesday.
Instead of relying on human networks, which have weakened under security force crackdowns, militant groups are now using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for tasks like surveillance and transporting supplies.
Officials said many OGWs have either been arrested or gone underground, forcing militant groups to turn to drones. This shift signals a new phase in unconventional warfare, the report said.
