Srinagar: The Government of India has approved the establishment of a new Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital in Ompura, Srinagar, as part of its efforts to strengthen healthcare services under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme, the Ministry of Labour and Employment announced.
The announcement was made by Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, in response to a query in the Lok Sabha.
The government confirmed the establishment of 105 new ESIC hospitals across various states and Union Territories, including one in Jammu & Kashmir.
ESIC hospitals provide affordable medical care to insured workers and their families, offering secondary and tertiary healthcare services. These hospitals play a vital role in supporting employees in the organized sector.
Additionally, the government has introduced several measures to enhance medical services in ESIC hospitals. These include collaborations with Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), expanded benefits for insured persons, and the launch of an online portal for seamless claim submissions.
